The first batch has been pre-sold for more than one thousand units.
These are surprisingly good right from opening the box to turning noise cancellation ON. Headphone feels quite premium. With right placement of buttons, its easy to switch NC. Apart from the headphones and chargers, you are provided with plane headphone adapter kit as well.
They have padding in right proportion and I liked the extended oval shape which makes it different from other while wearing. One thing I didn't liked is, it doesn't prompts for battery percentage, as in Bose.
Im not an audiophile, but listening to music is pleasant to ears even with noise cancellation on. I have compared with Bose QC II and I didn't found any difference between the two.
Bluetooth connectivity is pretty good, and it reconnects quickly without any issues. But while connecting it only prompts connected and doesn't mention the name of device. But that's my opinion.
Noise cancellation works like a charm. While in bathroom, it cancels the exhaust fan sound to nil. The moment I turn off NC, it feels like as if I turned ON the fan. I haven't tried them yet on a airplane but sitting in a Cal-train , I do enjoy the suppression of sounds.
Calling also works good. I didn't tried any noisy environment, but during call, if Noise cancellation is ON, the mic volume seems to be low.
Also, so far the battery seems to be as promised. I got it full charged and haven't charged yet.
I've tried other people's active noise cancelling headphones before and thought no big deal. Now I can't believe how much white noise, motors, fans etc we listen too all the time. Bought these for the riding lawn mower because I can't hear my music with normal headphones. However, with COVID and the wife working from home I've had to wear these during the day to work and study. Then I discovered I could play Call Of Duty Warzone QUIETLY next to the wife at night with these headphones. (You would be surprised how you can dial in footsteps in the game with these headphones!!) So all day and all night, right next to my reading glasses. I've heard the low battery voice only once... I usually charge it every other or third night.. so infrequent I don't remember. I usually keep ANC OFF as they are quiet enough. Audio is louder with it off too. I turn it on only about a quarter of the time. BEST HEADPHONES I'VE EVER OWNED.
CONS: Very comfortable. I have a big head and they squeeze a little just like all headphones do. So after hours of wearing them I can feel the pressure but no fault to these headphones, it's the nature of all these products. When hot, my ears will sweat a little because of the closed seal but easily adjusted to let air in. The cushion couldn't be more comfortable!
COWIN is now my brand.
The Cowin E9 is one of my first headphones. I decided to get this after comparing it to brands like Beats, etc, and I couldn't be happier to get this. The cups are made of a soft, plastic material and the cushions feel like leather, making for a nice, confortable audio seal. The headphones are compact, and I've included a photo of my hand for scale. (it's a small hand)
It lasts as long as it's advertised, and charges a lot quicker than expected. The buttons are also made of plastic, and are easy to press.
The only complaint is that the buttons get rather confusing to navigate at times, but turning it on and off are fairly easy, as are volume controls as they are located conveniently on the right.
Noise quality seem better than other brands at this price, like Beats. Bass sounds defined when it has to be, without overpowering everything else.
I liked the natural noise cancellation more than the ANC provided. Only gripe about the headphones was the lack of USB C, but that doesn't affect anything - it's more of a personal complaint. Sound is good and it's comfortable to use. The Cowin E9's are well-constructed, and it shows.
It's a great choice if you're looking for something in this price range.
The Cowin E9 headset battery life and ANC are great! I use my headphones to watch television. I watched two days worth of television and movies on one battery charge. This ANC will be helpful when I travel. It was simple pairing to mobile phones and streaming devices.
The E9 headset is more comfortable that my previous Noise Cancelling headphones. They are lighter and the pads feel better. I look forward to traveling with these. I will update this review in the future after I have more time to test.
The first thing you notice about these headphones is how comfortable they are. The earpads are just incredibly soft and light-feeling around the ears.
The other thing is these can extend to comfortably fit even my big head. I'm the guy who can only snap the last two spots on all one-size-fits-all hats, needed a size 8 for a Tilley hat and an XL for a fitted cap (which, actually, is probably a little small). So I was surprised this fit easily, even without extending the headpiece all the way. Plus, since it wasn't tight, I could wear it for a long period of time with the feeling of your head being in a vice. And, given the sizing, it should last longer than the ones with stress on the joints.
Sound wise, the E9 does well. Bass isn't overly strong, but mids are solid. Sound bleed is minimal, so you won't be bothering someone, unless you are blasting the music.
The automatic noise cancelling is interesting. It is the default start and I found that while it absolutely shuts down our dryer and heater noise, it also took a little off the music. So, at home, I find myself turning the noise cancelling off. However, given how effective it was in stopping the drone of appliances in our home, I'm sure it would shutdown jet engine noise with ease.
Battery life was strong and all the needed cables and plugs are included. I did notice that when I connected the headphones directly to the phone the volume dropped quite a bit. But I'm sure must everyone here is going with Bluetooth anyway.
All in all, a nice set of headphones.
My wife was looking for a new pair of headphones to use for her video editing business. Often she is listening to an older recording and needs to be able to hear every detail. These headphones perform well even over Bluetooth. When using the active noise-canceling the headphones transport you to a quiet oasis. In a normal office setting all noise is filtered out. The headphones also worked well during a recent flight. You were unable to hear any of the noise from the engines or the annoying loud passengers. She does use the headphone on conference calls with clients without any issues. Here clients never complain about hearing her.
The headphones are extremely comfortable even for extended wear. They feature a foam pad across the top, and around the ears. The headphones pivot to adjust to any size head. They easily fit everyone in my house from my large head to my young son's head. They have a matte silver finish and very stylish. They have a 30-hour battery life on a single charge.
I would recommend these headphones looking for over the ear noise-canceling headphones. The price at first glance may seem more expensive than some headphones but when comparing them to high-end noise-canceling headphones they are a bargain.
